Excerpt from the Preface:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a large and complicated society.
Whenever I mention going there to work with Saudi families I am
bombarded with questions: “What is it like?” “How can they want
to take advice from you—a Western female?” “Do you have to wear
a burkha?” “Is it safe?” Although I have been there more than 40
times during the last 11 years I know there is so much I simply don’t
understand. What follows are some of my own experiences there—in
a Kingdom that has come to feel nearly like “home,” with great gratitude
to the kind and generous Saudis I have had the opportunity to
spend time with.
Barbara R Hauser began as an international private client lawyer (Wellesley,
Penn Law, U.S. Supreme Court clerkship) and expanded into family governance, to
help families create their own respectful decision-making systems. Her book International
Family Governance (on Amazon) is also available in Arabic.
She works independently, advising families on governance, family offices, raising
children with wealth, multi-country inheritance issues and related areas.
